The mission of the Podiatry Division of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is to create a standard of excellence in patient care, teaching, research and service. Through programs in allied health, undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate podiatric medical education, the faculty is committed to the provision of educational opportunities to health professionals whose long-term career objectives will be to provide excellence in health care in the most cost-effective way, and to seek information fundamental to the prevention and treatment of foot and ankle disorders and disease.
The Podiatry Division is committed to a major research focus in the clinical science of the foot and ankle, including pathophysiology of foot and ankle related diseases and their prevention and treatment, and the effects of diabetes. The new knowledge created by these research programs will be disseminated to the state, nation and world to help address society’s health care needs.
The Podiatry Division is an integral part of the health care delivery system of San Antonio, South Texas, the nation and the world. Our service will provide the health care needs for the people of Bexar County regardless of socioeconomic status, and serve as a referral source for the treatment of foot and disorders for patients in San Antonio, South Texas and beyond.
